It involves working in a health care setting, dispensing medications and assisting pharmacies in order to maintain patient care. How long does it take to become a pharmacist? Most people will attend classes such as chemistry, biology, computer science, medical terminology, pharmacy law, physiology and pharmacology. Once graduated, they will need to pass a written exam, a skills test and then a drug knowledge test before they can legally start working. In most cases, it is also required that pharmacy technicians are registered with a licensing agency.
