One of the best ways to beat the winter blues is with a walk out in the beautiful British countryside. Wales has some of the most fantastic scenery, and beautiful landscapes to explore – so visit shamrockgift for warm aran sweaters, make a flask of tea and head out into the Welsh wilderness to get your blood pumping and enjoy the beautiful countryside that is in abundance here…

Talybont – This is a really beautiful walk beside the river and through pretty forest tracks. You will also find many waterfalls on this route which during icy weather are particularly stunning as ice crystals glitter with the cascading water. Walk beyond the largest of these to the plateau by Craig Y Fan Ddu and you will be rewarded with a brilliant view.

Pendine – Head to the beautiful Welsh coastline on a sunny winter day to enjoy this invigorating walk. Climb the hill out of Pendine and the views over the bay are simply breath-taking – the sunlight glints on the water and you will see across to the Gower and to the tiny Morfa Bychan cave in a glen. If you have more energy continue along to the other side where you will be able to see more amazing views over Pembrokeshire.

Brecon Beacons – To explore the heart of Wales, head into the Brecon Beacons. The steep climb to the summit of Pen Y fan is well worth it for the views, and if you prefer a less strenuous walk Mynydd Illtyd is a beautiful common at the foot of the Brecons where you will be able to see the surrounding mountains as you stroll.
