Preparing to Re-Tile your Bathroom

Home Improvement

If your bathroom has seen better days and could do with brightening up, a great way to do this is to replace the tiles. When you decide to do this, there are lots of things that you need to prepare in order for your bathroom to look its best once the new tiles are done.

Removing the old tiles is the first thing that you will need to do. If you don’t have any or you want to add tiles where there previously weren’t any, then you can skip this stage – bear in mind that if you are going to be tiling an area where you want to have a bathroom fixture such as a towel rail or a toilet roll holder you need to have something like these metal bonding adhesives to fix it onto the wall.

Once the area is clear then you can start to do your tiling – before you dive straight into this, watch some instructional videos on how to tile a bathroom, and also make sure that you have all of the tools and equipment that you need for the job.

When choosing the tiles, make sure that you are able to lay them yourself – we have all been inspired by those elaborate designs, but if that is something that you want in your bathroom, that is best left to a skilled professional tiler, as this takes a lot of patience and training to do.
