The facts are simple but true, regular exercise is good for your physical and mental health especially as you grow older.  Decreasing your risk of a serious fall because of improved body muscle strength and flexibility is just one benefit.  As older people take longer to recover from a fall reducing your risk of having one in the first place is common sense.  Helping to prevent a serious health issue such as Diabetes or Heart Disease is probably the top health benefit of regular exercise and as we all grow older; we are all going to be affected by failing health.  Anything we can do to help prevent ourselves from falling ill and staying healthier longer has got to be worthwhile.
